Zac (Protagonist)

Appears from the start

The ruler of the Atwood Empire enters the damaged Limitless Empire fortress badly wounded and cut off from most of his force. His Court Cycle Token grants restricted protection and access, making it his best tool for finding Emily and surviving the ongoing battle.

Arcaz Umbrizi (Protagonist)

First appears in chapter 2

Zac's established Draugr persona, used for dealings that require his undead identity. As Arcaz, he warns the Allbright commander that Deathsworn infiltrators have compromised the fortress operation and learns that the conspiracy reaches into Alliance command.

Emily (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Zac's disciple, a shaman, and an Acheron Company leader.

Mavai chieftain (Supporting)

Appears from the start

An allied Mavai chieftain who emerges into the fortress with Zac.

Endemire Sage (Supporting)

An Allbright field-army commander who confirms that Technocrats have penetrated Alliance leadership. He gives Zac Myriad Paths Water in exchange for an understanding that Zac will protect his granddaughter during the Left Imperial Palace trial.

Ogras (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Zac's demon companion and trusted ally, currently away on dangerous assassin training while pursuing the Hollow Court seal.

Joanna (Supporting)

Vilari (Supporting)

An Atwood revenant leader and disciple of the spirit within the Crown of Despair.

Zac's bonded Heaven-Render Vine companion, a powerful plant king able to join his battles directly.

Vivi (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Zac's established spirit-plant companion.

Ancient chef puppet (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 8

An unstable fortress automaton that runs the tower canteen and believes itself a military general. It detains Emily, uses the room's defenses against attacking Technocrats, and accepts Zac's false claim to be an Imperial Envoy before they escape.

Galau (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 17

A former Muscle Brigade quartermaster and skilled array specialist whom Zac once met at the Tower of Eternity. After years stranded in the fortress, Galau has altered its defenses and delayed the Technocrat intruders.

Average (Minor)

First appears in chapter 17

One of the remaining Muscle Brigade survivors trapped beside the fortress command center. Average supports the plan to aim the failing installation at Kan'Tanu forces and use the launch as the group's chance to escape.

Buber (Minor)

First appears in chapter 22

A surviving Muscle Brigade warrior and bearer of the Tethered Court seal. After escaping the fortress with Emily, Buber accepts a forged identity and agrees to enter the Acheron Company.

Imperial prince (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 19

A seventh-heaven royal who breaks into the lighthouse command center and tries to prevent its launch. He wields an Imperial Key and seeks to preserve the fortress for an unexplained purpose.

Masked Technocrat woman

First appears in chapter 20

A masked Technocrat operative who intervenes during Zac's battle with the Imperial prince. She wounds the prince and removes him through an unfamiliar transport method, without explaining her allegiance or objective.

Seventh-heaven royal

First appears in chapter 22

The attacking prince's brother, a seventh-heaven royal who receives orders to execute the gravely wounded claimant. Taking the seal released by his brother makes him the new Lord Vindicator and gives him a path toward the Imperial courts.

Karz (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 21

A sword attendant traveling with Laondio Evrodok in a past era. Beneath a deliberately humble exterior, Karz cultivates multiple internal sigils and pursues an ambitious seventeen-sigil integration that has already injured him.

Laondio Evrodok (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 21

Karz's scholar-inventor master in a past-era sequence. His improbable insights, opportunities, and repeated protection of Karz inspire both reliance and suspicion as the pair travel toward a new sect.

Everfast Monarch (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 25

A Dravorak field marshal commanding the 26th Field Army. During the hearing over the lighthouse disaster, he takes interest in Zac's military and industrial value.

Leandra (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 28

Zac's biological mother and a participant in the K.R. Aelu undertaking. When Zac contacts her about the Sindris, she explains the Selvari origins shared by humanity and the Technocracy.

Esmeralda (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 28

An ancient thief living as Zac's toad companion. Her expertise is expected to help breach protected treasure sites, while the unusual nature of her incarnation makes her both a formidable prospective partner and an unpredictable one.

Iron Wall (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 31

A Dravorak general who escorts Zac during the fortress recovery effort and blocks Haverak interference.

Nutzu

First appears in chapter 33

An operative examining lost Selvari technology. Her report identifies Zac as a living human whose Void Emperor bloodline has awakened, making his sudden rise on the sector ladder relevant to a much older investigation.

Qul'Uster

First appears in chapter 33

Nutzu's superior, who connects Zac's identity and bloodline to an old project. Rather than moving against Zac immediately, Qul'Uster considers the possibility that he is a descendant and decides to consult his mother.

Catheya (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 35

An ice-death cultivator pursuing an independent route toward the fifth pillar. After surviving a frozen wilderness, Catheya studies under an unaffiliated undead dragon and must understand a true fey stone while frost damage threatens her foundation.

Catheya's teacher (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 35

An unaffiliated undead pure-blood dragon who teaches Catheya the Three Purities method and gives her a supporting necklace. The dragon sets her a test involving a true fey stone and offers passage toward the fifth pillar if she solves it.

Crown of Despair's spirit (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Vilari's teacher and the spirit within the Crown of Despair.

Max (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 41

An awakened revenant swordsman at Blackwood College whose bond with Second Wind carries traces of his previous soul. After testing the connection, Zac accepts Max as his second disciple.

Sap Trang (Minor)

First appears in chapter 49

An Atwood coastal defender who believes he has avoided too much of the war. With little lifespan remaining, Sap Trang takes a Burning Youth Pill and enters a terminal seclusion to force one final breakthrough attempt.

Nolan (Minor)

First appears in chapter 27

A captive laborer on a Kan'Tanu Serenity Grass farm, burdened by a partly awakened bloodline and a cultist overseer. Nolan kills his overseer and dies when the Centurion Spear destroys the worldfort.

Eternal Servant

First appears in chapter 58

The overwhelmingly powerful eternal servant guarding the Hall of Service. She identifies Zac as an intruder.

Instructor Rava (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 66

The name retained by the Hall of Service's eternal servant. Rava is the remaining fragment of an Imperial instructor whose soul and faith are fading, but she can still activate the halls.

Sendor (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Zac's protective realm-spirit ally, whose defensive mark shields him from danger.

Ikridas Haverak (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 25

A Haverak princeling and hostile claimant who appears at the hearing where Zac is linked to Arcaz Umbrizi and an Imperial prince's death.

Kator White Sky (Minor)

First appears in chapter 57

A planned companion for Zac's departure toward the Imperial Graveyard within the coming month.
