Book 8 of the Dragon Heart series returns Hadjar to the Holy Sky School as a stronger, more capable disciple just as the school announces the discovery of a map and key to a legendary emperor's tomb, said to hold sword knowledge and a rare inheritance. With a two-week head start over rival schools, Hadjar joins Einen and the elven heir Dora on an expedition into the Wastelands to find it first, an alliance soon widened to five when old rivals become uneasy allies against a hidden enemy that has already tried to kill them. Pirates, ancient guardians, and the Wastelands' own dangers test the group before they even reach the tomb, while Hadjar quietly carries the risk that a hostile presence within him could one day turn him against his closest friend.
