Dunes of Midnight

The seventh entry in the Beastborne series opens with the tyrannical mistress of a desert city departing for a Trinic gathering, leaving a fragile succession among three sister servants just as tribal armies mass at the allied city of Brightsong demanding its missing leader, Hal. Unknown to the besieged city, Hal and his companions are alive but stranded deep within the Fathomways, working through a cascade of dangerous power advancement choices before a series of magical traps and pursuers forces them to flee through an escape portal. They emerge, wounded and far from home, in the remote desert region called the Dunes of Midnight, and must find a way back to Brightsong before its enemies close in.
