Dust World
By B. V. Larson
The second entry in the Undying Mercenaries series finds James McGill unable to settle into civilian life and returning early to Legion Varus just as Earth's economy collapses from a canceled alien contract. Assigned to a secret mission to the long-lost human colony at Zeta Herculis, McGill and his unit learn their orders may require using force against fellow colonists rather than simply aiding them. Before they arrive, their ship is boarded by an unknown alien species that slaughters its crew and sabotages its navigation, leaving Legion Varus to fight through the wreck and then abandon the doomed vessel for an unfamiliar, hostile world.
