Zav's sister (Antagonist)

Also known as purple-haired woman, lilac dragon

A vampire alchemist who works with Dimitri and can examine dangerous magical materials. He is asked to analyze a fragment from the missing pleasure orb and has also translated dark-elf writings.

Nin (Supporting)

Val's friend, a magical craftsperson and successful food-truck owner. She recognizes that the recovered orb fragment carries unsafe magic and advises Dimitri about where his proposed shop might prosper.

Sindari (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 6

Val's summoned tiger ally, linked to her through a figurine and able to communicate telepathically. He accompanies her into the Northern Pride headquarters and helps investigate the ritual killings found there.

Val and Thad's daughter, with whom Val has recently resumed contact. Her return to Val's life is one of the personal connections that Mary regards as a positive change.

Thad (Minor)

Val's former husband and Amber's father. Val has recently renewed contact with him, adding an important family connection to the support network she discusses in therapy.

Mary Watanabe (Minor)

Also known as Mary

First appears in chapter 9

Val's therapist. She observes that Val is rebuilding ties with family and friends, while cautioning that a romance with Zav could be dangerous because dragon claims carry possessive expectations.

Lorena (Supporting)

Also known as supposed cousin

First appears in chapter 10

An armed elf who interrupts the painful search of Val's mind and claims to be a cousin sent by Val's father. Her arrival offers Val a possible first connection to an elven family she has never known.

Zavryd'nokquetal (Supporting)

Also known as Zav, Zavryd

First appears in chapter 11

Zav's formal name identifies the same dragon whom Val knows by his shorter name. He returns from court politics wounded by a challenger and says he intends to free Val from his mark after completing his criminal hunt on Earth.

Rupert's child (Minor)

A female dark elf implicated by Rupert's surviving child in Rupert's murder and the lethal pleasure-orb scheme. Val identifies her as one of the suspects she intends to pursue at Mount Rainier.

Unnamed male dark elf (Antagonist)

An Army courier with magical ancestry who joins the Rainier search. He can sense dark elves at close range, giving the team another means of locating the enemy in difficult mountain terrain.

Lieutenant Sabo (Supporting)

Also known as Sabo

First appears in chapter 17

A quarter-elven Army officer on Willard's Mount Rainier team. Like Val and Clark, she has some ability to detect magical beings and helps search for the dark elves' hidden operation.
