Exiled Lands

By James T. Callum

The second entry in the Beastborne series follows Hal and his companions as they press west through hostile wilderness on a quest tied to a mysterious sound only their ally Elora can hear. When their Sin Keeper healer Ashera is struck down by a condition that ordinary magic cannot cure, Hal is forced to use his unsettling Founder ability to dominate her unconscious mind in order to save her life, at the cost of forming an unwanted magical bond and revealing that she has secretly broken her covenant and lost her healing power. As the group presses on, Hal must decide how much to reveal about Ashera's condition, weigh the ethics of the control magic that increasingly defines his growing strength, and lead a caravan of allies through mounting dangers and internal doubt.
