The former commander of Alamo remains aboard after the Nano fleet judges its work at Earth complete. The ship no longer accepts his authority, while the unauthorized truce he arranged leaves him responsible for a vast future troop commitment to the Macros.

Alamo (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Riggs's former ship declares its Earth mission complete and departs with the other Nano vessels. It no longer recognizes him as command personnel and instead regards him as a possible test subject.

General Kerr (Supporting)

Riggs's military contact on Earth presses him to regain control of Alamo after the Nano fleet leaves. He expects Riggs to restore a capability that has abruptly vanished.

General Sokolov (Minor)

Riggs's partner arrives at the threatened factory base after he leaves her behind. She refuses his attempt to send her away and chooses to remain during the expected attack.

Admiral Crow (Supporting)

The returning commander of another Nano ship brings the reinforcements missing from the factory defense. His arrival restores badly needed personnel but immediately creates a dispute with Riggs over responsibility and command.

Digger (Minor)

Crow's locally manufactured Nano ship prototype. He receives the vessel as Star Force begins recovering a space capability of its own and gives it the name Digger.

Socorro (Supporting)

Riggs's locally built scouting ship is fast, armed, and intended for discovery missions. Its simplified design lacks the stabilizing system found in the original Nano vessels, making hard acceleration dangerous for its crew.

Captain Saren (Supporting)

A member of Riggs's expedition command staff who manages operational displays as the transport of the Macros arrives. She confirms that Earth's defenses have been disabled for the landing.

Lieutenant Rafim Shrestha (Minor)

The expedition's sensor specialist aboard the transport of the Macros. He interprets readings from the passive array that Riggs has installed outside the human cargo hold.

Sandra is now identified as the command staff officer previously known as Captain Saren. When Riggs returns from the tunnels after losing contact with the base, she confronts him because she believed he had been killed.

Lieutenant Chen (Minor)

The sensor officer accompanying the assault on the Helios mountain. At the entrance, she detects an immense concentration of cold, motionless worm bodies beneath the advancing force.

Corporal Jensen (Minor)

The replacement sensor operator in the mountain expedition after Chen is lost. His scans warn of a large open space directly ahead of the drilling column.

Captain Roku (Supporting)

The tank commander responsible for the expedition's rear guard inside the artificial mountain. He holds the rear while the drilling column continues toward its objective.

Warrant Officer Sloan (Minor)

An injured drill-tank pilot who escapes his wrecked vehicle after the expedition falls into the central cavern. He joins Riggs's forward group amid continuing sniper fire.
