Luke (Supporting)

A defender who died before this book begins. Drew carries Robbi's blood-red sword as a reminder, although the weapon no longer possesses the special qualities it once had.

First appears in chapter 3

Drew's former roommate, now missing along with Zoe. As the group considers moving into Arlington, Drew fears that Lincoln may already be dead.

A teenage trainee whose summoned weapon resembles a lightsaber. Gary's developing Sense Intent ability warns him of danger, making him valuable during his first planned dungeon expedition under Drew's protection.

London (Minor)

First appears in chapter 4

A teenage trainee entering the Navy HR dungeon under Drew's protection. London attacks with charged stones and blinding light, and can produce a biological toxin that numbs its target.

JP (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 5

A ranged Nats Park defender who supports the Navy HR dungeon assault with gunfire. JP works with Katie's barricades and Drew's magic to destroy the dungeon's animated office threats.

Hargrave (Minor)

A Nats Park military survivor who has returned to active duty after severe earlier injuries. Crocodile-skin Xatherite saved Hargrave and left him with visible reptilian features.

Aevis (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 9

The system artificial intelligence assigned to Earth-3. Aevis confirms node claims and explains the infrastructure choices unlocked as Drew's connected territory expands.

Brady (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 10

The Sons of Liberty representative at Nats Park. Brady offers the faction's communications equipment, volunteers, and stealth specialist for Drew's expedition while firmly defending the militia's independence from military command.

Clive (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 10

A Sons of Liberty volunteer proposed for the Arlington expedition because of a stealth-field ability.

Captain Snyder (Minor)

First appears in chapter 10

A former naval officer at Nats Park who survived an earlier shooting. Snyder now has reduced duties centered on food work and caring for people left numb.

Bill (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 11

A healer who volunteers for Drew's expedition and can create a protected safe space shaped like a blanket fort.

Hades (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 15

A death-associated god and Order of the Dragon knight who contacts Drew in a dream. Hades warns that a wider war allowed an alien seed ship to reach Earth, then trades Drew a plant-destroying Xatherite for information.

Isis (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 15

A divinity associated with the Felidae who contacted Drew before this book. Hades learns of that encounter when Drew explains that Isis described his developing path as one that might lead toward justice.

Sadie (Minor)

First appears in chapter 34

One of the transformed dogs helping Lincoln survive in Arlington. Sadie leads him back to Drew's group and remains part of Zoe's local hunting pack.

Brownie guide (Minor)

A bark-skinned brownie associated with Zoe who arrives as a guide from the fae settlement. He says Zoe nominated Drew as a capable human protector and leads Drew and Luke into the country club community.

Captain DeVos (Supporting)

The human military leader within the country club settlement. DeVos explains that the local survivors allied with the fae to stay alive and warns that the divided fey leadership includes both possible allies and enemies of the Red Mage.

Lubberkin representative (Minor)

First appears in chapter 38

A hostile member of the settlement's war council. The lubberkin orders Drew to follow without introducing himself, provoking Drew to refuse and exposing tension within the fey leadership.

Grove leader (Supporting)

A violet-mana fey woman who leads Great Grove. After first questioning Drew while hooded, she returns to warn that a lich-led undead army is approaching and asks him to help defend the settlement.

First appears in chapter 41

Drew Michalik's named Xatherite crystal. Aeon stirs when Drew calls for retribution.

Hellenic Red Mage (Supporting)

A Protectorate Red Mage supervising Drew's development from off-world. He reports that Drew's forced attunement with Aeon has awakened the crystal's full Retribution power.

Forgotten Servant (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 43

The lich identified by the Protectorate as the power behind the Arlington undead. Its field army has lost coordination, but the Forgotten Servant itself remains active and is expected to face Drew.
