Pit’s bonded partner and an unusual defender of Harwatch. He awakens beneath the ruined cathedral with more power than his body can safely contain and struggles to stabilize it.

Felix’s bonded companion, found alive and recovering beneath Harwatch’s ruined cathedral. Their connection makes Pit an important source of support while Felix struggles to control the power accumulated during the preceding battle.

Zara Cyrene (Supporting)

The practical leader of the warehouse refugee camp. Cal organizes its barricades, patrols, and volunteer training while Harwatch is overrun by revenants. Her improvised forces give displaced residents a measure of protection.

Felix’s combat trainer. Rory uses an adaptive gauntlet to test movement, control, and spell accuracy while Felix’s unstable core makes even familiar actions unreliable. His exercises expose how much control Felix still lacks.

The Archon (Antagonist)

An ancient construct confined within gilded armor and bound by a curse. It sends three creations toward Harwatch, seeking agents, a lost key, and a way past the city’s old wall. Its siphon arrays are already drawing mana from the surrounding land.

Darius Reed (Supporting)

The Duke of Pax Rell’s Hand and Vessilia’s assigned protector. An Adept-tier combatant, he attempts to control her training and movements on her father’s authority. Vessilia openly rejects his effort to forbid Zara’s instruction.

Atar V'as (Supporting)

A fire mage and ally of Felix who lies unconscious in the camp healer’s ward. He is among the patients most severely affected by corruption carried out of the failed domain, and Portia has neither enough supplies nor a cure.

Alistair (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 10

One of Felix’s allies. He is unconscious in the healer’s ward and suffers from an especially heavy concentration of domain-related corruption. His condition is among the camp healers’ most serious cases.

Bodhi (Supporting)

The warehouse camp’s heavily armored guard captain. He coordinates volunteer patrols and directs work on the settlement’s inadequate fortifications. Felix reports to him when offering practical help with the camp’s defenses.

Thaddeus Thangle (Supporting)

Hector (Supporting)

Aenea’s husband and a bronze-rank sigilder nearing silver rank in his specialty. He adapts the mine’s wards against further attacks and joins the camp’s defensive work. His expertise helps secure the newly recovered source of ore.

The Maw (Antagonist)

The primordial presence previously connected to Felix. The revenants killed beneath the cathedral leave ruby remnants that he recognizes as echoes of the Maw, tying the city’s new threat to that lingering power.

Knuckle (Minor)

A goblin merchant who escapes the Inquisition roundup at the Drum Tank Inn in a wagon with other refugees. Their flight ends in a crash while red-cloak acolytes pursue them.

Ilya (Antagonist)

Lillian (Antagonist)

Alistair's iron-ranked cousin and an augmentation mage among the Guild force at the pump station. Holding Felix responsible for Harwatch's disaster, she stirs the other guilders into opposing him.

Guild Elder (Minor)

A Guild Elder who coerces a party into investigating a pump house. The Elder uses a dangerous tracking device to follow an unknown trail into a deep route beneath Harwatch.

Chorister of Siva (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 32

A severely corrupted religious leader rescued near the warehouse camp. She identifies the revenant nest beneath the primary pump station, but an unresolved anomaly leaves her account under suspicion.

Deceit of Misfortune (Antagonist)

The transformed identity of the Chorister of Siva. She summons revenants and ghouls, injures Pit, and uses the companion bond to harm Felix. Felix strips away her primordial power and restores her human form.

Olivia Regis (Supporting)

An injured Elder of the Protectors Guild found with the hidden underground group. She explains that the group kept the Scale of the Ravager King because it repelled lesser monsters.

Kaleska Bosco (Supporting)

The full identity of Cal, revealed publicly by Eliza DuFont during the battle for Harwatch. Kaleska leads one branch of the assault and is an eligible challenger for the city’s territorial authority, even as DuFont traps the allies inside her defenses.

Mud (Antagonist)

An Archid deployed inside DuFont’s trap alongside another construct and a large Reforged force. Felix calls it Mud before the blood moon magnifies the attackers.

Skeleton (Antagonist)

The second Archid waiting with the Reforged inside DuFont’s enclosure. Felix calls the construct Skeleton before the blood moon greatly increases the enemy force’s size and power.

Apollyon (Antagonist)

A colossal Archonic Construct advancing on Harwatch’s shield wall. It breaks free from a restraining array by absorbing its heat and continues toward the city’s defenders. Its immense metal body carries the Archon’s attack into the final battle.

Morvim (Minor)

Appears from the start

An elderly chanter with a close, family-like bond to Zara. He joins her discussion of sabotaging the Unbound summoning so those called by it will be scattered.

Yan (Minor)

First appears in chapter 3

A returning survivor of the Foglands who leads one of Cal's volunteer patrols through Harwatch.

Rutger (Antagonist)

An Inquisitor aligned with Huthorn who demands the immediate return of executions for heresy.

An immobile primordial spawn at the heart of the nest. Its eggs produce fully grown revenants, and its strength comes from the thousands of creatures surrounding it.
