Invent

By Dakota Krout

The seventh book in The Completionist Chronicles finds Joe elevated to military nobility after his part in a dwarven victory, and tasked with building a fortified settlement from a captured, dangerously overheating cavern outpost. Guided by his mentor Havoc, Joe balances ritual crafting, staffing, and defense as he works toward becoming a baron by developing his new territory and surviving repeated elven incursions. His progress is complicated by an elven-employed assassin who has already killed him once and continues to hunt him, and by the ordinary difficulties of running a settlement: securing land rights, hiring administrators, and completing a growing list of guild quests tied to his ritual-crafting class. Joe works to turn a barren, hazardous cave system into a functioning town while staying alive long enough to see it through.
