Iron Prince

By Bryce O'Connor, Luke Chmilenko

Iron Prince follows Rei, a small, chronically ill combat-academy student overshadowed by his physical limitations, as he takes the exam that assigns advanced neural-linked weapons called CADs to a select few students bound for elite military academies. Rei's exam scores are strong, but his body nearly disqualifies him until a mysterious authority intervenes, and he is ultimately given a weak-looking CAD with an unprecedented growth rating. That anomaly lets Rei rapidly improve his abilities even as his health begins to recover, and he is admitted to Galen's Institute alongside his close friend Viv, despite starting far behind his wealthy, highly trained classmates. Once there, Rei is thrown into commencement trials against the school's most talented recruits, including the incoming class's only top-ranked cadet, forcing him to rely on strategy and persistence rather than raw strength.
