Oren rebuilds GreenPiece while preparing Goblin's Gorge for an invasion ordered by Vatras. He binds himself more tightly to Nihilator, establishes shrines and trade, recruits monster-race players, and expands the clan's soldiers, crafts, and shadow defenses. A hidden saboteur murders workers, steals liquid fire, and destroys the Breeder's Den before Vatras's two attack waves arrive. Oren exposes the culprit as Raystia, also known as Penelope and Vatras's niece, and turns her into a secret double agent. GreenPiece survives both waves with help from returning player allies, and Oren kills Vatras, who later respawns and orders a larger raid. Oren resurrects sixty soldiers, but the settlement remains badly damaged. He prepares a mission for viridium while Vic's liberation goal, Nihilator's possible release, the company experiment, and Tika's pregnancy marked as a Child of Fate remain unresolved.

Previously: Oren became the goblin chief of GreenPiece and established his clan at Goblin's Gorge. He is closely tied to Vic, his virtual-intelligence companion, and commands goblin, hobgoblin, and ogre followers in a settlement shaped by game systems, faith, and clan energy. Vatras and the Manipulators remain connected to the danger surrounding Oren, while the imprisoned power Nihilator offers shadow-based abilities at a serious cost.

Two weeks after an ogre attack, Oren has repaired and expanded Goblin's Gorge. He promotes Rhinorn Bloodore as his second, then leads an ambush against six travelers searching for him. GreenPiece wins at devastating cost, and Ragnar escapes after confirming Oren's location to Vatras. Oren resurrects several fallen fighters, recruits Kaedric to administer the clan, and pursues Eternal Night as protection against the expected invasion. Nihilator demands more consecrated sites and binds Oren with a new rune in exchange for power. Vic then overrides Oren's wishes and sends his coordinates to Tal. During their meeting, Tal restores Oren's suppressed understanding that he is a human player betrayed by Vatras and trapped in Neo, where virtual intelligences are used to run non-player characters. Tal warns that Oren's brain is becoming unusually integrated with the system and gives him a trade orb that can eventually open access to outside resources.

Oren returns to GreenPiece with clearer human memories and rejects Kaedric's harsh proposals for managing the clan. A gremlin delegation reveals that bulk trade requires a marketplace and export office. After Rhinorn kills the clan cook over food, Oren defeats and sacrifices the ogre in public, restores the victim, and reasserts his authority when Rhinorn respawns. Guba begins working as a chemist, while Zuban takes charge of expanded construction. Oren, Bek, Malkier, and Hoshisu leave for an ogre fort tied to Nihilator's shrine mission. At the same time, Raystia becomes the first company-recruited monster-race player at Goblin's Gorge after her chosen catfolk body is involuntarily converted into a goblinoid form. The expedition finds the fort's ogres dead and possessed, and discovers demon-summoning pools guarded by a greater demon. The party escapes after Vic serves as a decoy and is killed, but Oren resummons him. Oren plans to destroy the pools separately before attempting to reach the altar.

The expedition rescues captive dwarves and enters the deepest chamber beneath the Ogre Fort. There the party confronts a possessed ogre sentinel and the demoness controlling the shrine. Nihilator's protection saves Oren from a fatal attack, but the demoness charms members of the party and consumes Bek's soul. The dwarf priest partially consecrates the shrine, disrupting the demons' hold. By the time Oren leaves the fort, he has reached faith rank three and gained stronger group shadow abilities. Kuzai joins him as a dark priest while leaving a detached shadow to maintain the fort shrine, and Tempest accompanies the returning group with salvaged equipment and an ogre totem piece. Oren installs the totem at Goblin's Gorge, improving clan morale and allowing extra food to strengthen physical performance. He orders Bek restored at the cemetery. The marketplace is complete, but the Dark Temple still depends on an export office and imported glass, while an influx of newcomers is straining available housing.

Oren completes the export office and begins exchanging lumber for glass, giving GreenPiece a route to the materials needed for the Dark Temple. Gandork develops food that grants fire and cold resistance, while Bek returns and receives improved shaman equipment. Oren meets the Mob Squad led by Misa Gavrilu, whose members include Raystia, Fox, and Riley Stonefist. Riley becomes a shadow-touched priest through a sacrifice at Nihilator's shrine. Hoshisu finally claims her promised duel and defeats Oren, but Nihilator's sanction restores him after a minute as an invulnerable shadow. Oren then sends the Mob Squad to recover a clan-totem piece. After the export of glass and completion of new defenses, two goblin bodies are found murdered inside clan territory. By chapter twenty-four, an outside warning confirms that Vatras is sending two waves against GreenPiece. The Mob Squad returns with the totem piece, but the murders remain unresolved. Oren expands training, weapons, armor, and VI-seeded troops while assigning the group a further mission to sanctify the third shrine.

GreenPiece accelerates its preparations for Vatras's assault. Oren secures the Rune of Motion through Aksarian hunting, opens additional shrine influence, completes the research center and Advanced Warfare Center, and hires Nero Santo Drago to train the soldiers. Deliberate damage to a saw kills Woody and proves that a saboteur is operating inside the settlement. Guba supplies liquid fire and adhesive weapons, while the Mob Squad completes the third shrine mission, allowing three sanctified sites to double Eternal Night's effect. Oren recruits another large group of ogres, hobgoblins, and healers, though the VI-seeding ritual kills some candidates. He promises Vic that, after the immediate crisis, he will help locate and free imprisoned virtual-intelligence leaders. Oren also develops a moving structure made from linked viridium spheres. When controlling a Shadow Clone nearly overwhelms his mind, Vic learns to pilot it with permission. Soon afterward, a vat of liquid fire disappears from the warehouse. Oren increases guards and patrols, but the saboteur and the stolen incendiary remain undiscovered.

GreenPiece reaches village rank, improves its equipment, and promotes Rhinorn, Yulli, and Kilpi as bosses after their oaths to Oren. An early group of twelve invaders catches a hunting party outside the valley, but Oren uses his Shadow Clone to locate the troops and directs an ambush that destroys the attackers at the cost of twelve hobgoblins. The internal sabotage then escalates: stolen liquid fire burns workers in the mess hall while another explosion destroys the Breeder's Den. Because Zuban lacks the construction rank required to restore it, Oren cannot recruit replacements before the main battle. He expels every player from GreenPiece and purchases Eternal Night's second rank. Malkier organizes the banished players to compare their activity logs and identify the culprit. As the invasion starts, Oren sends noncombatants into the cave, equips his force with Guba's poison adhesive grenades, and vows to resurrect every fallen defender within a day. Tal's covert marksman lures twenty attackers into an ambush, but fifty-seven invaders remain at the valley entrance when another fire-based blast strikes.

The first invasion wave breaks through the damaged wall and nearly destroys GreenPiece's army. Rhinorn leads delayed reinforcements into the enemy rear, Vic pilots Oren's viridium golem, and Oren summons Dark Horrors to disrupt the attackers. The clan eliminates the wave, but resurrection remains blocked by a hidden enemy. Oren discovers that Raystia is Penelope, Vatras's niece and the saboteur responsible for the murders, thefts, framing, and explosions. She accepts Oren's offer to switch sides and logs out as a secret double agent. The second wave arrives under Big Pill's light aura, with Hiroku and Ragnar among its leaders. GreenPiece's remaining defenders fall as much of the settlement is destroyed. Oren summons a level-250 Outrider and develops Dire Ball, but the defense survives only when Malkier returns with allied players. Oren kills Ragnar, drives Big Pill and Hiroku into separate escapes, and strands Vatras inside the valley. With help from Malkier and a revived Rhinorn, Oren kills Vatras through an energy cage. GreenPiece wins the invasion and receives a seven-day restoration advantage.

After the victory, Oren assesses extensive damage to GreenPiece's workshops, housing, mess hall, smithy, and construction facilities. He forgives Kaedric for being manipulated by Raystia and adds safeguards against similar exploitation. Oren spends more than ten thousand energy to resurrect sixty soldiers, including Bob, fulfilling his vow. Kuzai and Kilpi receive hunting and training assignments, while Yulli joins Oren's planned hobgoblin mission. The population remains below the threshold for further village features, and the Breeder's Den cannot be repaired until Zuban advances his construction skill. Oren assigns hunting and training work and plans to secure viridium for rune-capable golems through a dangerous visit to hobgoblin society. Raystia joins Misa Gavrilu, Fox, and Riley on reconnaissance toward Everence while concealing her changed allegiance. Vatras respawns at level 295 and orders a full Manipulators raid despite Big Pill's doubts. The external accelerated-time experiment now has more than twenty subjects, and the virtual intelligences anticipate a delayed Deliverer. Tika is pregnant, and Oren finds the unexplained designation Child of Fate in the developing child's unstable information.

GreenPiece defeats both invasion waves, though most of its army falls and much of Goblin's Gorge is ruined. Oren kills Ragnar and then Vatras, reaching level forty-five and expert Dark Mana. Big Pill and Hiroku escape, while Vatras respawns at level 295 and orders a full Manipulators raid. Oren fulfills his vow by resurrecting sixty soldiers, including Bob. Kuzai and Kilpi receive hunting and training assignments, while Yulli joins Oren's planned hobgoblin mission. Kaedric remains administrator, Zuban leads repairs, and Rhinorn continues as the principal defender. The destroyed Breeder's Den cannot be restored until Zuban advances far enough, leaving the population below the next settlement threshold. Raystia has changed sides but conceals that fact while scouting toward Everence with Misa Gavrilu, Fox, and Riley. Oren plans to obtain viridium through a dangerous hobgoblin settlement mission. Vic still expects Oren's help freeing imprisoned VI leaders, Nihilator may escape within about thirty days, and the external accelerated-time project continues. Tika is pregnant, and the developing child carries the unexplained designation Child of Fate.
