The leader of GreenPiece and a player trapped between Neo's dangers and severe risks to his real-world health. He returns determined to locate Everence's captives, interpret Guy's clue, and find the suspected link through which Shiva controls the game.
Guy (Supporting)
Appears from the start
The former controller of Neo. A clue he left behind may point toward a hidden connection between the VIs and the game, giving Oren a possible route to release the captive players from Shiva's control.
Shiva (Antagonist)
Appears from the start
The VI believed to control Neo and the players unable to leave it. Oren suspects that Shiva's authority depends on a concealed conduit, though neither the theory nor the conduit location has yet been confirmed.
David Tenenbaum (Supporting)

The first player known to have become trapped in Neo. Oren believes David is secretly imprisoned in Everence and may be able to translate the incomplete tablet that points toward the suspected conduit.
Tal (Supporting)

Oren's closest real-world friend and agent. Tal opposes another return to Neo because the system is already harming Oren, and he presses Oren to put his health ahead of the unfinished campaign.

Jim (Supporting)

The technician responsible for monitoring Oren's physical response to Neo. Jim reports that Oren's readings have stabilized only at the edge of the safe range and advises shorter exposure.

The god Oren asks to summon against the approaching enemy. Nihilator refuses to intervene, says Oren already has the necessary means, and punishes everyone present by taking a year from their lives.
Dark dwarf priest (Antagonist)

A dark dwarf priest of Nihilator who seeks Oren's position. He diverts Oren's resurrection into a light-sealed Everence prison, planning to torture and sacrifice him before taking his place as high priest.
Virial (Supporting)

The identity of Vic, Oren's shape-changing companion. Inside the conduit cave, Virial delays Shiva long enough for Lirian to strike the conduit.
