Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.

Claire Danvers (Protagonist)

Appears from the start

A sixteen-year-old university student whose work with Myrnin makes her important to Amelie's defense of Morganville. Claire tries to keep Glass House together as Bishop's challenge becomes open conflict.

Shane Collins (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Claire's boyfriend and one of the human residents of Glass House. Shane's instinct is to fight the vampires threatening his friends, but the conflict repeatedly separates him from Claire and forces him to trust allies he would once have rejected.

Eve Rosser (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Claire's housemate and Michael's girlfriend. Eve faces the town's collapse with determination, relying on her knowledge of Morganville and her loyalty to Glass House.

Michael Glass (Supporting)

Appears from the start

The vampire owner of Glass House and Eve's boyfriend. Sam's death has left Michael grieving, while Bishop's campaign places new pressure on his loyalty to Amelie and on his promise to protect his human friends.

Amelie (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Morganville's Founder, now openly at war with her father after his attack at the feast and his killing of Sam. Amelie organizes resistance through a damaged network of vampire and human allies while concealing how deeply the loss has affected her.

Bishop (Antagonist)

Also known as Mr. Bishop

Appears from the start

Amelie's ancient father and the leader of the faction trying to take Morganville. Bishop uses fear, blood ties, and opportunistic recruits to dismantle the Founder's protections.

Myrnin (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 2

The unstable vampire scientist whom Claire assists. Myrnin understands the systems underlying Morganville and the illness afflicting its vampires, making his laboratory and his uncertain loyalty essential to Amelie's resistance.

Oliver (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 2

The vampire owner of Common Grounds and Amelie's longtime rival. Oliver fights Bishop because the invader would leave no room for his own authority, but Claire cannot assume that his alliance with Amelie will survive every setback.

Richard Morrell (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 3

Monica's older brother and a Morganville police officer. Richard helps coordinate the town's human defenses as ordinary civic authority breaks down under vampire warfare and the approaching storm.

Hannah Moses (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 5

A capable human with military experience who helps organize resistance to Bishop. Hannah treats the defense of Morganville as a practical problem of communications, shelter, and coordinated force rather than a contest of vampire ceremony.

Monica Morrell (Minor)

First appears in chapter 4

Claire's former campus enemy and Richard's sister. Monica's family position offers less protection once Bishop's faction overturns Morganville's existing rules, forcing her into uneasy dependence on people she has mistreated.

Ysandre (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 3

A cruel vampire in Bishop's inner circle. Ysandre enforces his authority and uses the collapse of Amelie's protections to hunt and intimidate people aligned with Glass House.

Katherine Danvers (Minor)

First appears in chapter 4

Claire's mother, now living in Morganville with her husband. The war and storm expose how little Claire's parents understood about the town they entered and make their safety one of Claire's constant concerns.
