Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.
Valkyrie Cain (Protagonist)
Appears from the start
A powerful Elemental who has resumed working with Skulduggery after five years away. Valkyrie remains affected by panic, guilt, and the legacy of Darquesse, but her younger sister Alice gives her a connection to ordinary family life that she is determined to protect.
Skulduggery Pleasant (Protagonist)
Appears from the start
A skeleton detective and Valkyrie's long-time partner. Skulduggery is hunting the newly restored Abyssinia and the surviving Anti-Sanctuary while trying to support Valkyrie without allowing concern for her to slow the investigation.
Alice Edgley (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 4
Valkyrie's much younger sister, who knows her as Stephanie and is largely sheltered from the magical conflicts surrounding the family. Alice is open, affectionate, and central to Valkyrie's hope that at least one part of her home life can remain safe.
Omen Darkly (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 8
An insecure Corrival Academy student who recently helped Skulduggery and Valkyrie expose the Anti-Sanctuary's reach into the school. Omen remains overshadowed by his brother Auger, but continues to become involved when events demand courage rather than prestige.
Never (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 8
Omen's Teleporter friend at Corrival Academy. Never is socially confident, changeable in gender presentation, and usually quicker than Omen to understand the shifting loyalties and relationships around them.
Auger Darkly (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 10
Omen's older brother and the Chosen One expected to kill the King of the Darklands. Auger's talent and public destiny make him the focus of Corrival Academy, although he remains personally protective of Omen.
Abyssinia (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 12
The resurrected leader of the Anti-Sanctuary, restored from her preserved heart. Abyssinia possesses immense power and a personal history with Skulduggery, and she is now pursuing family concerns as well as the wider ambitions of her followers.
Cadaverous Gant (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 34
A Neoteric killer whose control over any place he considers home allows him to change its dimensions and rules. Cadaverous has left Abyssinia's service with a grievance and selects Valkyrie's family as the means of forcing her into a contest on his terms.
China Sorrows (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 28
The Supreme Mage governing Roarhaven and the Irish Sanctuary. China is attempting to maintain control while Abyssinia's return exposes both political weaknesses and secrets rooted in the sorcerers' long history.
Temper Fray (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 30
A Sanctuary operative and teacher who continues to watch events at Corrival Academy. Temper gives Omen practical support and serves as a link between the students and the adults pursuing Abyssinia's organization.
Sebastian Tao (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 46
A masked organizer of the Darquesse Society. Sebastian is convinced that Darquesse must be returned to the world and quietly recruits people willing to help him reach her, without explaining the source of his certainty.
Caisson (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 72
A powerful and psychologically damaged sorcerer whom Abyssinia identifies as her lost son. Caisson has spent years confined and abused, making his recovery both the most personal part of her campaign and a source of fresh danger.
