The fifth entry in the Beneath the Dragoneye Moons series finds Elaine taking charge of a grieving group of dwarves after their companion Lula is killed and another, Toke, disappears underground. With food and mana running low, Elaine leads Fik, Ned, Glifir, and Drin through slime-infested tunnels, lethal traps, and a clash with an organized orc patrol while trying to follow Toke's trail before it goes cold. When the search is abandoned in favor of simple survival, the group's path leads them to a hidden dwarven city, where Elaine's healing draws grateful attention even as a companion's increasingly strange behavior raises new and unsettling questions.
