The eighth entry in the Beneath the Dragoneye Moons series opens as Elaine, Artemis, Julius, Amber, and the phoenix hatchling Auri stumble out of a Fae crossing into an unfamiliar, spider-infested forest and slowly realize that the passage has thrown them thousands of years beyond their own time. Forced to travel in disguise because their true power levels would draw dangerous attention, the group makes contact with Iona, a warrior and paladin whose blessings let her translate their story and warn them how much danger they are actually in. As they head toward a school of magic that promises safety for people like Elaine, whose healing abilities are rare and coveted enough to get her killed if exposed, the group must find money, allies, and a place to belong in a world that has moved on without them.
