Dash (Protagonist)

Also known as Newton Sawyer, the Messenger

Ragsdale (Supporting)

Appears from the start

The forge's security chief, responsible for protecting Cygnus personnel and facilities. Ragsdale approaches recovered Golden technology cautiously and presents the realm's new magnetic infantry weapons as it prepares for planetary operations.

An Aquarian liaison whose people support the forge's expanding logistics and exchange resources with Cygnus. Albaje helps establish reliable food production by arranging water from a relocated comet fragment.

A perceptive Cygnus negotiator and administrator. Haralyn notices an ally's unease during a strategic discussion and draws out intelligence about a Far-Flung missile project that may have Golden support.

Conover (Supporting)

A Cygnus electronic-warfare specialist and pilot of the Pulsar. Conover coordinates the intrusion into Far-Flung defense networks, giving the opening assault a temporary advantage over the planet's orbital systems.

Colonel Marsha Barnett (Supporting)

A professional mercenary selected to command the new Cygnus Brigade. Colonel Marsha Barnett directs the realm's first planned planetary ground assault, taking a thousand soldiers toward the main Far-Flung spaceport.

Dash's combat partner and pilot of the Swift. Leira joins the coordinated mech attack that breaks the outer defenses of the Far-Flung spaceport while the Cygnus Brigade advances on the ground below.

Amy (Supporting)

Pilot of the Talon and an experienced trainer. Amy helps Dash and Leira breach the Far-Flung spaceport's outer defenses, providing heavy support for the realm's first planned planetary ground campaign.

Golden prisoner (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 6

A Golden pilot discovered inside a concealed craft during the Far-Flung campaign. Captured alive after Cygnus forces prevent his launch, he becomes an unprecedented prisoner who may provide intelligence about Golden aims.

Emissary Prime (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 7

The identity claimed by the Golden pilot captured from the concealed craft. Emissary Prime says he served as the Golden representative to the Far-Flung and presents his people as entitled to use allied species as expendable forces.

Custodian (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 7

The artificial intelligence responsible for the forge's industrial systems and strategic support. Custodian survives a Golden intrusion in protected memory and restores the facility from secure backups after compromised machinery turns lethal.

Sentinel (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 7

The artificial intelligence partnered with Dash in the archetype. Sentinel helps recover critical systems during the Golden virus attack and supports Dash as the compromised forge machinery is brought under control.

Petrovsky (Supporting)

A cryptographer with experience gathering intelligence from prisoners. Petrovsky assists Dash during the first interrogation of a living Golden, then survives the prisoner's destructive signal and its immediate effects.

Jameson (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 8

The only living captive found in a Far-Flung prison and processing facility. Jameson asks Dash to contact her people after explaining that the Far-Flung enslaved them, and she recognizes Cygnus as an enemy of both the Far-Flung and the Golden.

Viktor (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 12

Pilot of the Slipwing and a coordinator for Cygnus operations. Viktor is assigned to connect the realm's large reconnaissance-drone program with allied factories and fuel suppliers, helping turn the plan into a shared industrial effort.

Eve (Supporting)

Also known as Anchor Alpha AI

Anchor Alpha's tactical artificial intelligence. Eve works with Wei Ping to draw an attacking Golden force into the mobile station's prepared field of fire during its first deployment deep in contested space.
