Reign of Madness

Continuing King's Dark Tidings, Rezkin travels by ship toward a tournament while maintaining an elaborate high-noble persona to shield his companion Frisha's standing among the accompanying aristocrats, quietly investigating the other travelers as he goes. Along the way, his companion Reaylin discovers she has an unwanted gift for healing magic. When the group stops in a town gripped by a rushed murder trial, Rezkin intervenes to overturn the verdict, and the accused man's past as a former royal guard leads to evidence, in the form of two enchanted blades keyed to his own aura, that Rezkin was personally chosen by a previous king, though he has no memory of the king who chose him.
