In short (whole book)

Back in Savannah after the war, Derek strengthens his household, earns Diamond rank, supports Brandy's inventions, and prepares Thomas and other young fighters for independent growth. Alana then takes him through high-level dungeons, where they devise ways to preserve golem cores and push Derek and Silvi beyond every 1,500-point stat threshold. Alana reveals that she has qualified for ascension and will soon be forced into another system. Derek discloses his origin on Earth and discovers that the Origin System still reaches him. His Void Call attracts Asher, an intelligent void beast who chooses to train inside Derek's inner void. Derek and Alana cross the sea to Linderis, recover the doll Alana's mother made for her, and assemble allies to kill the Echoing Willow. After defeating the World Boss and repelling a hostile party, they prepare to leave before Linderis responds. Derek is level 245 and still lacks one advancement condition, while Alana's departure is imminent.

Previously, in earlier books (earlier books)

Previously: Derek became a mythical void adventurer and built a household around the Void Emporium in Savannah. Silvi, his bonded companion, remained both a powerful combat partner and a fiercely independent member of that family. Derek formed close ties with Cydaria's champion Alana, Prince Edgar, Avery, Malorie, Natalie, and the kingdom's royal house. War and invasion drew this circle into conflicts involving Cydaria, Indaria, and hostile nobles. Gerald Torith was defeated, but the larger chain behind the destruction of Jacks's family was not fully exposed. Derek also took responsibility for Thomas, supported Brandy's unusual crafting talent, and helped secure several captured dragonkin whose future bonds remained unsettled. The immediate war ended with political settlements left to the royal families. Derek returned to a Savannah that was safe for the moment, but his own advancement, the danger of the void, the placement of the dragonkin, and the future of the people under his protection all remained unresolved.

Story so far - through chapter 11 (this book)

Derek returns to Savannah and resumes the practical work of supporting his household. Rudy approaches a class upgrade that may permit soul contracts, while Bones worries that the Assassin's Guild could pursue him and Ogre. Jax and his pregnant partner establish a family and decide to find a home in the city. Brandy's new legendary smithing path produces a working pair of explosive flight boots and a powerful combination of combat skills. Derek also supplies Roman and Freia with rare monster materials under a potion-production agreement. At the dragonkin kennel, Stella and the beast tamer Lindsay emerge as possible future partners for unassigned creatures, although Lyra advises patience. The fate of each bond remains undecided. Meanwhile, Malorie reports that the Void Emporium is profitable after its auction. Natalie allows Derek to buy its site, and he purchases the two adjacent lots as well. The household therefore shifts from wartime survival toward permanent expansion, training, craft development, and preparations for longer journeys.

Story so far - through chapter 20 (this book)

Derek travels to the capital academy to check on Thomas. After gaining royal authorization to enter, he watches Thomas perform as a capable second-year spear fighter in supervised team combat. Derek spars against students and instructors, demonstrates his control of void techniques, and encourages Thomas to cultivate reliable teammates, especially an unusually resilient tank connected to capital guildmaster Cain. The academy's structure and reopened dungeon access give Thomas a path toward real adventuring experience under controlled conditions. Derek then visits the capital Adventurers Guild to resolve his delayed promotion. There he meets Klaus, the ancient founder and leader of the Guild. Klaus can disperse and rebuild his molecular body, making him exceptionally hard to kill despite the lasting cost of repeatedly altering himself. Derek's void attacks affect that body in a way Klaus has never encountered. After seeing Derek's strength, Klaus grants him Diamond Adventurer rank without a conventional test. Their meeting opens a new line of inquiry into Derek's unusual physical nature and creates a direct connection between him and the Guild's founder.

Story so far - through chapter 30 (this book)

Klaus studies Derek and concludes that his human and void structures are fused rather than merely layered. In return for permission to examine a regenerated sample, Klaus accepts confidentiality and owes Derek open-ended assistance. Derek declines an offer to lead the Adventurers Guild. He then checks on Claire, Zachary, and Lucas, who are developing a coordinated, skill-first combat style under Walter and Jensen. Claire remains below level ten to strengthen her abilities before choosing a class, while the brothers combine lightning and metal defenses around her water techniques. Back in Savannah, public teleportation between allied kingdoms resumes and Edward becomes king of Cydaria. Brandy improves her flight equipment, Roman and Freia begin contracted potion supply, and the Void Emporium prepares to expand. Marrick, an ancient Indarian sand wielder, arrives instead of waiting passively for death. He befriends Brandy, encourages her to protect her creativity from exhaustion, commissions travel comforts, and sets out on a final open-ended adventure. Derek plans to check on him periodically, leaving Marrick's destination and survival uncertain.

Story so far - through chapter 38 (this book)

Thomas prepares a regular dungeon party, and Derek gives him escape scrolls for emergencies. As the Void Emporium undergoes a major renovation, Alana finally returns and invites Derek on a circuit of level-250 dungeons. Before beginning, they inspect Cordonia and confirm that Indaria's old exploitative servant contracts have been destroyed and that reforms are taking effect. In a golem dungeon, Derek and Alana discover several methods for shutting down cores without destroying them, creating a valuable source of advanced crafting materials. They also arrange their attacks to slow Derek's experience gain while accelerating his underdeveloped skills. After the first clear, Alana explains the change in her voice and behavior. She is the Dawn Siren, and mastering the final skill of that transformation has given her control over its compulsive influence. The same achievement completed her advancement conditions. A system countdown now means she will soon ascend into an unknown system and leave her companions behind. Bound by restrictions on what she may disclose, she asks Derek to look after Stella. Derek agrees and begins considering how void resources might help the rest of their circle advance.

Story so far - through chapter 44 (this book)

Derek tells Alana the history he had concealed. He came from Earth, survived its lethal Universal System tutorial, and was stranded in the void after rescuing an ambushed team. When he eventually reached Cydaria, the local system suppressed but could not erase the earlier one. This explains his retained strength, rapid growth, and extraordinary fusion with void power. Alana brings controlled Deathsworn into repeated golem runs so Derek can train skills while receiving only a fraction of the normal experience. Their experiments prove that multiple elements can preserve intact cores, and Derek leaves the highest-level materials with Brandy for future use. He reaches level 242 before shifting to an avian dungeon where Silvi gathers rare cooking ingredients and develops her combat abilities. Derek and Silvi then push their final core stat above 1,500. Derek has now crossed all six thresholds before level 250, but his advancement notice shows one additional condition remains. The local system seeks outside help, and the Origin System answers, granting Derek The Impossible and a large permanent stat reward. Its intervention confirms that the older system still has an active connection to him.

Story so far - through chapter 50 (this book)

After finishing Alana's remaining puzzle dungeons, Derek turns to Void Call and learns that intelligent, systemless void beasts exist. One such being responds without the usual mindless aggression. In the next encounter, the creature identifies himself as Asher, an ancient void user seeking ascension through his own mastery. Derek discovers that his aura produces fear and a degree of compulsion in Asher, suggesting a deeper authority over void beasts than he understood. Rather than kill him, Derek allows Asher to enter the dangerous inner void space connected to Derek's abilities. Asher chooses to remain there and train, leaving his eventual power and loyalty uncertain. Derek also examines a void beast held in his Time Prison after Void Travel and finds that the combination has catastrophically damaged it. He ends its suffering and abandons the idea of using that method for transport or training. Alana then postpones other travel to complete a final task across the sea. She and Derek reach the Indarian coast and begin the long crossing toward the continent where she was born.

Story so far - through chapter 56 (this book)

During the sea crossing, Alana decides she cannot safely take her captured wyvern into another system. She will annul the contract before ascending rather than risk lethal bond sickness, leaving the creature's future partner unresolved. Derek and Alana reach the far continent and travel covertly through several kingdoms toward Linderis, where humans and half-elves face severe persecution. Alana briefly confirms that a former party member survived and now leads a powerful noble family, but she avoids revealing herself. Using the local name Alana Brighton, she and Derek pass through neighboring cities and cross the hostile border under concealment. Near the Echoing Abyss, they find fortified camps where Linderis trains nobles and soldiers against mental influence. Derek brings an Indarian duke to investigate and uses his accepted status as a full elf to secure a path through the defenses. The duke confirms that Alana is remembered as a feared legend. At the Abyss edge, Alana reveals that she survived its madness as a child. With only days left before her forced departure, she and Derek descend toward the source of the controlling vibrations.

Story so far - through chapter 64 (this book)

The Echoing Willow, an immense tree monster, creates the madness that defines the Echoing Abyss. Alana leads Derek to the hidden cave where she survived alone at thirteen and recovers a damaged doll made by her mother, her only remaining possession from her. When the Willow enters a vulnerable interval, Derek summons Silvi, Avery, Edgar, the Walking Forge, and Rocky. Their coordinated attack tears open the trunk, burns the canopy, and floods the roots with lava. Derek attacks from inside while the others prevent the tree from recovering. The Echoing Willow falls and is recognized as a rare, non-respawning World Boss. Derek gains a World Boss achievement, additional Origin System skill points, and reaches level 245. Avery learns why Alana's departure is urgent and discovers that he too is nearing the advancement standard, while Edgar applies his reward toward the same long-term goal. A local party attacks over the Willow's destruction. Derek incapacitates most of them, Alana kills their persistent leader, and she openly identifies herself as the Dawn Siren. The survivors retreat. Derek's group resumes harvesting the Willow and prepares to leave Linderis before a larger force arrives.

How does it end? (ending)

The Echoing Willow dies under the combined assault of Derek, Alana, Silvi, Avery, Edgar, the Walking Forge, and Rocky. The party receives a World Boss reward and harvests the creature before Linderis can organize a larger response. When a local party attacks, Derek incapacitates most of it and Alana kills its leader, openly confirming that she is the Dawn Siren. Alana has recovered her mother's damaged doll and has only days before ascension removes her to an unknown system. Derek reaches level 245 with every core stat above 1,500, three Origin System skill upgrade points, and one advancement requirement still unmet. Silvi remains at his side, while Avery and Edgar move closer to their own advancement. Asher is still voluntarily training inside Derek's inner void, with his survival and future allegiance unknown. The unassigned dragonkin, Thomas's developing dungeon team, the younger trainees, Marrick's travels, and the unanswered responsibility for Jacks's family remain open as Derek's group prepares to leave Linderis.
