His students include Todd, Isabel, Emily, James, and Alexandra, whose safety has become one of his central responsibilities. Those advantages have also drawn him into conflicts involving gods, demons, noble families, and the institutions that police them. He then creates a fatal hole through Jalen's chest and leaves him behind. Jalen is apparently dead, and his father remains free inside the breached archive with a path toward the hidden artifact.

Noah ends the main arc at rank five with Unstable Pandemonium, back at Arbitage and preparing an open challenge to the nobles targeting Isabel.
