Shattered Limits

The second Ultimate Level 1 novel follows Max and his party - Fowl, Tanila, and Batrire - as they push toward level 25 through dungeon runs and a dangerous side venture into an altered, rare-monster floor that traps them until they defeat its three-headed boss. Success comes at a cost: Max's Berserk ability proves so consuming that it frightens Max himself, even as his allies reassure him it kept him alive, and a later fight against cat-like enemies leaves him permanently blind in one eye. Having already resolved to leave Rumstant for the capital, the party grows closer, sharing valuable loot and pooling their trust in Max's judgment, even as a guild operative suspicious of an unrelated disappearance quietly dispatches investigators toward his location.
