A former Night Horror and experienced shadow fighter who travels with Zach through the fallen Empire. With their former conditions reversed, she watches over him, keeps him oriented, and searches for help as his dangerous fixation returns.
Zacharia Gardner (Protagonist)

An Earth survivor, Warden, and time-aspect fighter leading refugees with Naha. He takes a young survivor into his care, but a returning mental imbalance turns his drive to understand essence into a danger to himself and those close to him.
Hero (Supporting)
Appears from the start
A young refugee with the Survivor class and no dependable family support. Zach assumes responsibility for him and begins teaching him alongside the other children in the refugee group.

Brightstar (Supporting)

Ryun's awakened forge and bonded companion. It provides a mental workshop where he can practise smithing with known materials, and its capacities grow as their bond deepens.

A dead drake whose earlier sacrifice weakened Haster and helped make the eventual victory possible. Ryun finds his preserved body in a damaged formation and recovers his armor and stored possessions.

A Twilight Melody spear fighter and member of House Orn. She supports Anrosh's leadership even when enforcing sect law creates strain with her own relatives.
Tali (Supporting)

An injured former sect head who advises Twilight Melody. She mentors Anrosh by withholding intervention when the acting leader can solve a problem herself, while remaining ready to answer threats beyond Anrosh's reach.
Kri (Supporting)

Anrosh's daughter, Ryun's path-heir, and Tali's spear student. Although capable of advancing, she remains at early Lord so her mentors can preserve a stronger foundation for her future path.
Dragonheart's Eternal alchemist (Supporting)

Dragonheart's Eternal Realm alchemist and sect leader. He diagnoses the danger in Zach's condition and agrees to prepare a potion that can remove the unstable cultivation path, provided Zach and Naha protect his brother during a threatened advancement.
Cthul essence researcher (Supporting)

A former Seekers of Knowledge scholar who studies the underlying forms and meanings of essence. When the Taken overrun the library at Dal Davor, she triggers its destruction and escapes by teleportation.

A necromancer who operates through undead vessels and possesses knowledge useful against the Taken. He is approached as a covert prospective ally for the coming war.
Kael

An Unchained operative and runecrafter trapped in the ethereal realm by an ancient shade. He accepts a bargain for power and eventual release in return for completing a task in the physical world.

An ancient yeti shade who confines Kael in an isolated part of the ethereal realm. The shade trains him in runecraft and offers power, advancement, and eventual release in exchange for an unspecified task.
Council host sect head (Supporting)

The leader hosting a broad gathering of sect heads as cover for a smaller Council of Sects meeting. He seeks allies for action against the Taken and prepares to press the council toward war.
Oakham (Supporting)

A returning Warden from Zach and Naha's former tournament team. After the faction loses its citadel and former headquarters, he helps them reconnect with its displaced leadership.
Warden commander (Supporting)

The current leader of the fractured Wardens. After the former commander is captured, she preserves the faction by relocating its master interface and leads its survivors from a new fort.
Eric (Antagonist)

A Taken fighter who wields destructive blue fire and serves among the principal defenders of the enslaved mining city. He confronts Zach when the liberation team draws the fort's strongest combatants outside.
Elder King (Antagonist)

The human immortal who rules the enemy city. He openly joins its defenders, summons a thunderstorm, and uses battlefield edicts to alter conditions in their favor.
Caria (Supporting)

A leading figure among the third-iteration refugees whose difficult history with Tali has not prevented the two from working together.
Vanessa (Supporting)

A Twilight Melody fire fighter who joins the sect's leader and another ally in reinforcing the assault on the enemy city.
Riki (Minor)

A kinetic-force fighter serving with the coalition. He works beside a Black Viper spear fighter against an enemy general that has broken through the allied line.
Twilight Melody's giant gravity combatant (Supporting)

Twilight Melody's giant gravity specialist. She holds a city wall, opens an escape route for trapped allies, and joins the assault against the enemy command position.
Herald of the Machine (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 120
The Exalted Empire's mechanized commander. She arrives over the battlefield with an imperial fleet after the main enemy army has been defeated.
the Dealmaker (Supporting)
Appears from the start
A broker of bargains whose earlier dealings continue to affect Ryun and Zach. Ryun still owes an unspecified favor, leaving the agreement as an open obligation.
