Thomas's tough, loyal friend and a natural leader, once the Keeper of the Runners in the Glade. Blunt and fearless, he stands firmly with Thomas against WICKED.
Newt (Supporting)

One of Thomas's closest friends from the Glade, steady and thoughtful, and a calming presence through every ordeal. Unlike Thomas, he is not immune to the Flare and carries the infection.
Frypan (Minor)

The group's former cook, a steady, good-humored survivor who has endured the Maze and the Scorch alongside Thomas.
Teresa (Supporting)

The girl who shares a forgotten past and a onetime mental link with Thomas, whose loyalties were strained by the coerced actions forced on her during the Scorch. Capable and self-possessed, her bond with Thomas is fraught as the final trials approach.

A resourceful young woman who guided Thomas across the Scorch and grew close to him. Brave and quick-witted, she remains at his side.

Janson (Antagonist)

Ava Paige (Supporting)

The Chancellor of WICKED, the authority behind the trials the survivors have endured. Composed and calculating, she defends the organization's claim that its brutal experiments serve the search for a cure to the Flare.
Vince (Supporting)

The leader of the Right Arm, a rebel movement opposed to WICKED and its experiments. Gruff and militant, he is determined to bring the organization down.
