Practical and persistent, he knows physicist Manabu Yukawa from university and sometimes discusses baffling cases with him. A younger detective who works alongside Kusanagi on the murder inquiry. He helps trace the victim's movements, test Yasuko's account, and gather the ordinary details on which the case depends.
