The Forever Ship

By Scott Bartlett, Joshua James

The first book in the Starship Omega series follows the crew of the Imperium starship Tennyson as they detect a scrambled transmission in an ancient language, drawing suspicion from their Ornu overseer and leading them to investigate a signal-emitting probe near a distant asteroid. The investigation turns violent when combat drones attack the ship, and the crew barely recovers both the probe and a stranded Marine before learning the signal warns of an ancient threat that has also been detected elsewhere in the galaxy. Captain Bill Henderson, secretly opposed to Imperial rule, uses the discovery to arrange a covert meeting with a former military contact, leading to a dangerous mission: boarding an enemy dreadnought and fighting toward a contested world's surface in search of the same ancient technology both sides now want.
