The Human Factor

The eighth entry in the Omega Force series finds Jason training with Galvetic legionnaires while the crew settles Omega Force onto its new home world. Word reaches him that an unknown bounty hunter is hunting a human named Jason Burke, and an armed stranger attacks his ship as he leaves the system. Back at base, a cybernetically enhanced human ambushes him instead: Carolyn Whitney, who left Earth in 1945, reveals that Earth has reverse-engineered wreckage from the alien ship Jason once left behind, built its own starships, and settled a colony world whose government has sent a kill team to eliminate him as a danger to human expansion. Jason doubts parts of her account, and surveillance devices planted on his vehicle suggest someone is already watching him closely. Wary of trusting her fully, he agrees to investigate the human colony before deciding how to respond.
