The Land: Founding

By Aleron Kong

The first entry in the Chaos Seeds LitRPG series follows a VR gamer known in-game as Silk, whose character stumbles into a hidden ritual chamber inside a popular virtual-reality game and is pulled mind and soul into a real world called the Land. Waking alone in a forest, he learns from a small imp guide that his old character sheet no longer applies: he is now a level-one human with two starting abilities, and injury and death are genuinely dangerous, though death returns him to a fixed respawn point. Taking the name Richter, he hunts to build his first skills, then meets Hisako, leader of a community of wood sprites, who sets him a quest to cull a pack of diseased wolves threatening her people. The hunt costs him his first death, after which Hisako's people arm him properly and bind the sprite Sion to him as a companion for a follow-up quest into the forest's animal sickness.
