The Legacy characters

By R.A. Salvatore

Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.

Drizzt Do'Urden (Protagonist)

Appears from the start

A dark elf ranger who has made a home among the dwarves of Mithral Hall after rejecting the cruelty of Menzoberranzan. He is fiercely loyal to the friends who accepted him, but the return of enemies from both his birthplace and his past threatens the peace he has found.

Catti-brie (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Bruenor's adopted human daughter, an accomplished archer and one of Drizzt's closest friends. She is engaged to Wulfgar but increasingly troubled by his jealousy and by the difference between the man he was and the man he is becoming.

Wulfgar (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A towering barbarian warrior, former king of the tribes of Icewind Dale and wielder of the enchanted warhammer Aegis-fang. His coming marriage to Catti-brie should mark a happy beginning, but pride and insecurity have made him possessive and quick to anger.

Bruenor Battlehammer (Supporting)

Appears from the start

The red-bearded dwarf who reclaimed Mithral Hall for Clan Battlehammer and now rules it. Blunt, stubborn and protective, he treats Drizzt, Catti-brie, Wulfgar and Regis as family and wants the hall secure enough for that family to prosper.

Regis (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A halfling companion of Drizzt and Bruenor who prefers comfort, food and profitable arrangements to danger. He still carries the enchanted ruby pendant he once stole in Calimport, a gem that can bend the judgment of people who stare into it.

Guenhwyvar (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A great black panther from another plane, called by Drizzt through an onyx figurine. Guenhwyvar is an intelligent and trusted companion rather than a pet, equally capable of tracking an enemy or carrying a wounded friend.

Vierna Do'Urden (Antagonist)

Appears from the start

Drizzt's surviving sister and a priestess of the Spider Queen. She leads the drow mission into Mithral Hall, believing that capturing and sacrificing her renegade brother will restore divine favor and advance her own standing.

Matron Baenre (Antagonist)

Appears from the start

The ancient ruler of Menzoberranzan's dominant house. She approves the expedition against Drizzt and supplies resources to it, treating the renegade as both an offense to the Spider Queen and a useful instrument in the city's politics.

Jarlaxle (Antagonist)

Appears from the start

The flamboyant leader of the drow mercenary band Bregan D'aerthe. Clever, well equipped and difficult to read, he supports Vierna's raid while keeping his own interests and his soldiers' survival ahead of religious devotion.

Artemis Entreri (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 5

A human assassin from Calimport and Drizzt's most persistent personal rival. He measures worth through skill and control and remains obsessed with proving that he, not Drizzt, is the better fighter.

Thibbledorf Pwent (Supporting)

Also known as Pwent

First appears in chapter 4

A scarred dwarf battlerager whose enthusiasm for brawling is matched by his loyalty to Bruenor. His ridged armor, reckless charges and informal band of similarly minded warriors make him dangerous in the close tunnels of the hall.

Cobble (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 4

The high priest of Clan Battlehammer and a steady counselor to Bruenor. He tends the hall's spiritual life and its wounded while helping its king interpret dangers that cannot be answered by axes alone.
