The Lone Drow characters

By R.A. Salvatore

Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.

Drizzt Do'Urden (Protagonist)

Appears from the start

A dark elf ranger who believes Bruenor, Catti-brie and Regis died when the tower at Shallows fell. Grief strips away his patience and sends him alone against Obould's army, closer to the instinctive Hunter he has spent much of his life mastering.

Obould Many-Arrows (Antagonist)

Appears from the start

The orc king whose successful invasion now threatens Mithral Hall. Obould combines personal strength, political ambition and the religious claims made around him, seeking to become the founder of a lasting realm rather than the leader of a passing horde.

Bruenor Battlehammer (Protagonist)

First appears in chapter 2

King of Mithral Hall and one of the friends Drizzt wrongly believes dead. Bruenor survived Shallows and turns immediately to the defense of his clan's home, where the enemy's numbers and giant allies make every gate and bridge a potential breach.

Catti-brie (Protagonist)

First appears in chapter 2

Bruenor's adopted daughter, a powerful archer and Drizzt's partner. She survived the destruction at Shallows but has no way to correct Drizzt's belief while the orc host separates him from the defenders withdrawing toward Mithral Hall.

Regis (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 2

The halfling companion who escaped Shallows with Bruenor and Catti-brie. Regis brings stealth, persuasion and his enchanted ruby pendant to a siege in which the defenders need information and ingenuity as much as strength.

Wulfgar (Protagonist)

First appears in chapter 3

Bruenor's foster son, again carrying Aegis-fang and trying to protect the family he formed after his return from captivity. The war forces Wulfgar to face loss without surrendering to the anger that once drove him away from everyone who tried to help.

Delly Curtie (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 3

Wulfgar's partner and Colson's caregiver. Delly has little of the companions' battlefield experience, but she is determined to preserve a place for the child and a domestic future for Wulfgar while the invasion closes around Mithral Hall.

Innovindil (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 5

An elf warrior and aerial scout who meets Drizzt beyond the besieged settlements. Innovindil recognizes both his extraordinary effectiveness and the grief distorting his judgment, and offers the companionship of someone accustomed to measuring loss across a long life.

Tarathiel (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 5

Innovindil's fellow elf and beloved companion, an experienced warrior working against the invaders from the open country. Tarathiel accepts Drizzt as an ally while remaining wary of the revenge that makes the drow take unnecessary risks.

Shoudra Stargleam (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 7

The sceptrana who left Mirabar's political caution behind to oppose Obould's invasion. Shoudra contributes both spellcraft and leadership to Mithral Hall's defense and works closely with the gnome inventor Nanfoodle on answers to the giants' siege power.

Nanfoodle Buswilligan (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 7

A gnome alchemist and engineer serving with Mithral Hall's defenders. Nanfoodle studies the battlefield as a system of structures, timing and force, looking for a device that can turn the attackers' concentration into a weakness.

Gerti Orelsdottr (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 8

A frost giant leader whose forces make the assault on Mithral Hall possible. Gerti remains Obould's ally while protecting her own authority, and she watches closely as the orc king's followers begin treating him as more than a mortal commander.

Banak Brawnanvil (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 8

A veteran dwarf charged with organizing Mithral Hall's soldiers while Bruenor directs the wider defense. Banak must preserve disciplined lines through repeated attacks and prevent the orcs from turning their great numbers into panic inside the hall.
