Bini Aru (Supporting)

Kiki's father, a quiet Munchkin who knows a rare transformation charm but has kept it secret. Bini Aru uses the magic cautiously and does not realize that his son has overheard its key.

Ruggedo (Antagonist)

The deposed Nome King, still bitter toward Ozma and the people of Oz. Ruggedo recognizes that Kiki's transformation magic could serve his old desire for revenge and encourages the boy's worst ambitions.

The fairy ruler of Oz, whose approaching birthday inspires her friends to seek unusual gifts. Ozma's trusting and peaceful rule is the very thing Ruggedo hopes to overthrow.

Dorothy Gale (Protagonist)

A girl living happily in Oz, determined to find a birthday surprise worthy of Ozma. Dorothy's search leads toward troublesome monkeys and eventually crosses the path of the conspirators.

The Wizard of Oz (Protagonist)

Ozma's court magician and Dorothy's companion in the search for a birthday gift. The Wizard's magic depends on tools and learning rather than boasting, and he watches unfamiliar enchantments closely.

Trot (Protagonist)

A brave girl who hopes to bring Ozma a marvelous living flower from a lonely island. Trot sets out with Cap'n Bill, trusting friendship and persistence more than magic.

Cap'n Bill (Protagonist)

Trot's old sailor companion, practical and protective as ever. Cap'n Bill joins her expedition for the magic flower and steps onto the island despite its suspicious appearance.

The Glass Cat (Supporting)

A transparent, proud, and sharp-tongued glass animal who agrees to guide Trot and Cap'n Bill. Because she is not made of flesh, some enchantments affect her differently from her companions.

Gugu (Supporting)

The dignified leopard king of the Forest of Gugu. He presides over the beasts' council and listens when two strange creatures arrive with a proposal to turn the animals against human beings.

The Cowardly Lion (Supporting)

Dorothy's large and loyal feline friend, traveling with her and the Wizard. His presence matters in the Forest of Gugu, where the wild beasts judge visitors according to forms as well as intentions.

The Lonesome Duck (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 15

A solitary magical duck who values the privacy of his remote home. Though reluctant to become involved with strangers, he has knowledge that may help those trapped by the Magic Isle.
