The Wind Runner
By pirateaba
The tenth entry in The Wandering Inn continues several storylines set in the aftermath of a costly battle. Ryoka Griffin, a runner known locally as the Windrunner, uncovers the secret of a hidden vampire family after helping deliver emergency aid during a dangerous mission, and the two women become unlikely friends despite the danger her discovery poses to the family. Meanwhile, at the Wandering Inn, the goblin Numbtongue grieves the deaths of his companions and confronts a city that will not fully accept him, even as he begins to inherit the memories and legacy of a fallen friend. Elsewhere, a company of humans stranded from Earth works to establish a foothold in a new city, weighing the risks of dangerous, high-paying work to keep their fragile community solvent.
