To Catch a Falling Leaf

By J. P. Valentine

The second entry in The Stargazer's War follows two threads. On Ilirian, archaeologist Micaiah joins a Dragon's Right Eye expedition to an unexplored Sill ruin; after black void beasts attack and kill several cultivators, survivors take shelter inside the ruin, whose enchantment seals the entrance behind them, leaving them cut off from the sect. Elsewhere, Caliban Rex and his companions Charlotte and Xavier, aboard the ship Lucy, infiltrate Ilirian's controlled airspace to gather materials for a cultivation focus, work complicated by Cal's inability to draw on the Infinite Sea from the planet's surface. Tracking a rare creature, the trio crosses into a hidden, Qi-rich garden and encounters a wandering cultivator of overwhelming power, entering into a bargain whose terms and purpose remain unclear.
