Voracious

By James T. Callum

Continuing the series, Hal discovers that defeating two dragons in a magical contest has bound them to him as unwilling servants under an oath he never intended to impose, and he sets out to renegotiate more equal terms rather than keep them enslaved. While the group anticipates an attack from Kinslayers, Hal also chooses a Leadership path meant to protect his settlement of Brightsong rather than expand it through conquest or politics, and eventually strikes a deal in which the dragons regain their freedom in exchange for teaching him to wield dragonfire. Meanwhile his separated inner counterpart, Besal, wakes weak and alone in a hostile realm, bound into an uneasy alliance with a mysterious assassin whose true purpose remains unclear, and one of Hal's allies quietly pursues a valuable ore deposit needed for the settlement's growth.
