Winter Solstice

By pirateaba

The fourth book in The Wandering Inn continues several threads at once. Goblin chieftain Rags leads a growing coalition of tribes north in search of allies against the Goblin Lord, only for shelter with the Great Chieftain Tremborag to turn into a trap that strips her of authority and forces a violent break for freedom. At Erin's inn, a traumatized white-furred gnoll child, the sole survivor of her tribe, struggles to feel safe until a fall into the dungeon and a desperate rescue change how she sees her new home. Meanwhile, Erin's magical door becomes a contested asset among merchants and guilds, even as a powerful, mysterious stranger intercepts one of the wagons carrying it and easily overwhelms its escorts before revealing an unexpected connection to Ryoka.
