Fusing

Fusing continues Tala's training toward becoming an Archon in the city of Makinaven, where she discovers that the Archon Jevin, who has been guiding her training, secretly underlies the city's magic and holds far greater authority than she realized. Tala develops new soul-based techniques, including creating and controlling blood-based constructs and testing contests of magical authority against other practitioners, while also confronting unresolved feelings about her family's past choices. As her training concludes, she and her sparring partner leave Makinaven with a caravan, aware that a recent mass killing of predators nearby has drawn dangerous creatures into the surrounding forest.
