The dwarven recruiter who forces Joe to choose a side in the local war. Captain presents himself as Joe's sponsor in the Dwarven Legion.
Enlightened One (Minor)
First appears in chapter 3
The elven representative at the recruitment area and the alternative to joining the dwarves. Enlightened One cannot act until Joe chooses voluntarily, but becomes the rejected faction recruiter once Joe commits to the dwarves.
Broski (Minor)
First appears in chapter 5
A dwarven Legion trainee in Joe's first local hunting party. Broski claims the leadership position, although Dudette makes the same claim and the party's hierarchy remains unsettled.
Dudette (Minor)

A dwarven Legion trainee assigned to Joe's first hunting party. Dudette also claims authority within the group, leaving its leadership unsettled when the new party first introduces itself.

A grandmaster smith whose discarded failed shield attracts Joe's attention in the dwarven landfill. McPoundy prizes his professional reputation, and the unusual quest tied to the shield gives Joe a reason to seek him out.
Elven rival (Antagonist)

A high-status elven opponent who attacks the Legion during its assault on a border fort. Havoc identifies this figure as Francine and treats her as an important rival.
Occultatum (Supporting)

The divine power whose hidden shrine Joe captures for his own faction. Establishing Occultatum in the zone changes the local religious balance, marks Joe as its champion, and turns his conflict with the elves into a blood feud.

A dwarven princess seeking the high-priestess position in Occultatum's new faith. She offers a Grand Temple and additional fort temples, viewing the religious office as both a holy calling and relief from dynastic pressure.

A human arcane loot lord and Odds and Ends shopkeeper who delivers equipment that Havoc arranged for Joe. Minya also reports a connection to the shop's counterpart on Midgard.

A forge-capable elemental summoned and bound by Joe in the Caves of Solitude. The slag elemental obeys while Joe sustains their mana link and supplies intense heat for field crafting.

The name Joe gives his bound slag elemental before dismissing the summon to conserve mana.
Lady of Light (Antagonist)

The commander of the hidden elven fort who maintains its grand illusion defenses. The Lady of Light captures Joe after his sabotage and arranges to confine and interrogate him inside the fort.
Eli (Antagonist)

An elven interrogator who restrains Joe with mana-suppressing cuffs. Eli repeatedly kills and respawns his prisoner while using speech-based compulsion to demand equipment and information.
Major Infraction (Supporting)

A sanctioned necromancer and Legion officer who supplies volunteers for Joe's anti-illusion ritual. Major Infraction cooperates despite open hostility because the coming fort assault requires a defense against elven deception.
Captain Cleavage (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 55
Major Infraction's axe-specialist officer, assigned to escort Joe into the assault on Grandma's Shoe. Captain Cleavage accepts Joe's painful anti-illusion protection before they enter the contested fort.
General Information (Minor)
First appears in chapter 59
A dwarven officer who challenges Joe's authority to consume oligarchy resources during the volcanic emergency. General Information changes course when Joe explains the rescue plan and commits mana-rich officers to the effort.
