The deity of change who encounters Elaine's anomalous soul. Papillon removes knowledge considered unsafe, gives her a choice about retaining partial memories, and arranges for her to be reborn as a human.

The leader of Ranger Squad 4. He moves with exceptional speed and fights using blades of light, combining direct combat power with responsibility for the depleted squad Artemis brings to meet Elaine during her recovery.

Bluebeard's tame dinosaur companion and long-term bonded partner. Katastrofi shares experience with the Sentinel and permits Elaine to ride while she attempts to use Detailed Restoration on the creature.
Firefoot Felicity (Minor)

An absent fugitive pursued by Bluebeard. She is identified as a ship thief whose escapes are associated with fires, giving the Sentinel a continuing trail to follow while Ranger Squad 4 resumes its own journey.
