Portal to Nova Roma: Venice
By J.R. Mathews
Second in the Portal to Nova Roma series. With his settlement of Miletus overcrowded and short on resources, Alexander sails west with his people, hoping to trade with the surviving city-states of a transformed Italy, and rescues a merchant captain from pirates on the way, gaining an entry point into Venice's trading and privateering guilds. As pirate activity around Venice escalates into an organized threat backed by a rival power, Alexander expands his operation through dungeon clears, a bound spirit companion, and a growing network of dwarven and human allies, while working to fund a proper warship and secure a trade partnership with a hidden dwarven settlement. A hostile Venetian merchant family and the pirate warlord's fleet-building both emerge as complications just as Alexander's foothold in the city begins to stabilize.
