Eleventh in the Omega Force series. As a rogue AI called the Machine tightens its grip across occupied space, a remnant of an ancient artificial intelligence has secretly taken up residence in Jason's neural implant, quietly enhancing his systems while keeping its presence hidden from him and his crew. Investigating a black-market fuel deal tied to a fleet of captured capital ships, Jason and his crew extract a hunted intelligence operative, contend with growing Confederation suspicion of their activities, and work to stabilize the malfunctioning rebuilt battle synth Lucky before he becomes an operational liability. When the crew boards one of the fleet's dormant capital ships and finds evidence of an active, unexplained operation aboard it, their search for the Machine's larger plan takes on new urgency.
