Reborn as a Demonic Tree

By Xkarnation

Ashlock, once an ordinary man on Earth, wakes reincarnated as a demonic spirit tree, rooted immobile in a mountain courtyard, unable to speak or move, sustained only by what visitors offer his devouring ability. A private status system rewards him with skills and rare items whenever he banks enough sacrificial energy, and over repeated visits from a young cultivator named Stella Crestfallen, he becomes her secret companion and quiet protector. Stella, heir to a demonic-path family called Red Vine Peak, loses her father and must defend her home from a hostile rival house while preparing for a looming examination that will decide her future. Unable to act openly, Ashlock uses his growing senses and abilities to watch over her, intervening from the shadows against threats to her household, all while concealing that he is far more aware than any ordinary tree.
