A senior military adviser to Ardania's rulers. He reports the growing wolfman threat and proposes placing an outlying town under guild control as a training base and defensive post.

A Wanderers healer and secret Ritualist who studies magical writing. He can distinguish genuine spell structures from false material, and Cel encourages him to seek formal instruction at the Mage's College.
Tatum (Supporting)

Joe's deity and the source of his written-power magic. Tatum grants him the ability to create learnable spell scrolls when he uses materials capable of holding magic.
Cel (Supporting)

A mage who gives Joe grimoires and recommends that he study at the Mage's College. Cel remains wary of Joe because of their earlier history, but still helps guide his magical training.

An axe-wielding frontline fighter whose rare class is Scald, despite applying to Joe's party as a bard. His chants attract enemies and support his role as the group's tank.
Slender (Minor)

A Mage's College instructor who teaches the preparation of magical paper, ink, and quills. His introductory course gives Joe the practical skills needed to produce stable magical documents.
Alexis (Supporting)

A level-ten Aromatic Artificer seeking a place in Joe's party. She specializes in poison, crossbows, and hazardous ranged-weapon enhancements.
Sir Barrington (Supporting)

The mayor of a hostile town that Aten considers suitable as a Wanderers base. Joe is sent on a secret guild mission concerning the settlement.

The settlement's blacksmith. He offers his approval, gold, and future discounts if Joe's party clears the monsters from his family's iron mine.
Poppy (Supporting)

Betrayer (Antagonist)

The settlement blacksmith transformed into the instant dungeon's Cursed Blacksmith boss. Joe identifies him during the party's second attempt and uses a stamina-draining ritual against him.
Daisy (Supporting)

A Wanderers major assigned as Joe's direct superior. She demands that he answer Aten's summons, physically restrains him, and repeatedly applies a command ability to force his attention.

An unidentified masked figure pursuing Joe. The observer reports that Joe has again escaped an attempt to capture or kill him after using shrine travel.

A nature deity and Sir Barrington's patron. She seeks sanctuary in Pathfinder's Hall, warns that wolfman forces are approaching, and offers Joe a map leading to valuable ritual knowledge.

A library authority and patron of scholarship. He rewards Joe for sharing access to an artifact blueprint, granting him tenured standing and advancement to Arcanologist.

An undying elemental spectre who rules the prison dungeon's deepest boss chamber. The Warden defeats and restrains Joe's group, recognizes his shadow magic, and offers instruction while intending to imprison him indefinitely.
Sage Nocturnal (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 42
The murdered investigator whose identity is revealed to be that of the Warden of Souls. After nobles killed him for exposing their crimes, he was forcibly transformed into the prison dungeon's spectre jailor.

Ardania's royal judge in Joe's restricted-class hearing. She uses Absolute Inspection to examine his full status and determine whether his shadow abilities violate the kingdom's rules.

A purple-robed battlefield saboteur who silences Joe's shadow control during the defense of Ardania. His interference leaves Joe unable to stop a wolfman elite from killing him.
the human king (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 49
Ardania's Battle Tyrant monarch. He enters the failing defense, devastates the invading force, and accepts the wolfman warlord's challenge to single combat.
the wolfman warlord (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 49
The leader of the invading wolfman army. He transforms into an enormous battle form, challenges Ardania's king in single combat, and is killed, breaking the racial advantages sustaining his troops.
