Noah's partner and fellow Arbitage magus, equally at home teaching and fighting beside him. After helping bring down a great snake monster, she claims the Earth Master Rune Earthen Muster.

Lee (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Noah and Moxie's demon companion, a formidable fighter whose body can assume unusual forms. She helps hold a great monster at bay while Noah prepares a musical formation.

Azel (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A demon already connected to Noah's group and especially to Lee.

Todd (Supporting)

One of Noah's students, newly returned from demanding training with Silvertide. Expensive treatment has largely healed his injured neck, allowing him to join the class assessment on Windscorn Plateau.

Isabel (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 6

One of Noah's students, visibly stronger after training with Silvertide and ready to join the class assessment on Windscorn Plateau.

Emily (Supporting)

A Torrin heir and one of Noah's students. The upheaval following Evergreen's death weighs on the people around her as she prepares to resume training at Arbitage.

Alexandra (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 2

A former captive freed from Gentil's control who comes to Arbitage seeking Noah's instruction.

James (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 6

Revin's student, temporarily admitted to Noah's lesson at Emily's request. He accompanies the class to Windscorn Plateau for a practical assessment.

Tim (Minor)

First appears in chapter 7

The Arbitage operator responsible for launching travelers through the transport cannon. His own runes are damaged, a problem Noah would like to repair without exposing closely guarded abilities.

Karina (Supporting)

Also known as Bria

First appears in chapter 2

A Linwick shapeshifter and Noah's former arranged fiancee. She returns to Arbitage carrying an urgent order from the Linwick family head for Noah to attend a meeting.

Contessa (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 2

Evergreen's former aide, left without work or a home after her employer's death. She seeks shelter with Noah.

Number 14 (Minor)

An anonymous and apparently wealthy bidder at the noble auction. Through a representative, Number 14 asks Noah's masked group not to compete for Violet Transference and shows interest in an untested monster rune.

Jalen (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 3

The rank-six head of the Linwick family. He orders Karina to bring Noah to the family estate over artifacts taken from the catacombs, with assassins a possible consequence of refusal.

Aiden (Minor)

First appears in chapter 18

A Linwick assassin sent by Jalen to target Noah under the Vermil identity. He watches Noah at Arbitage but declines a direct strike because he suspects a trap.

Father (Supporting)

Also known as Father Linwick

First appears in chapter 61

A Linwick power broker who knows Wizen and has reasons of his own to oppose him. He offers Noah limited intelligence about the mind mage, but presents himself as a temporary source rather than a trusted ally.

Brayden (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 62

A Linwick mage whom Father promises to send in support of Noah's efforts against Wizen. His capabilities and the exact form of his assistance have not yet been shown.

Wizen (Antagonist)

The hostile mage behind plant constructs that replace dead people and attack anyone who discovers them. He is holding Evergreen and intends to use her runes in the creation of a stronger form.

Evergreen (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 2

A deceased Torrin figure whose former aide is left without work or shelter. Moxie asks that Emily not be told about the control Evergreen once exercised over her.

Silvertide (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A powerful rank-five ally known to Noah's group from earlier events.

Ulya (Supporting)

An advanced-track faculty tester who makes Alexandra's admission depend on a private fight. His domain suppresses her magic and lets ordinary physical attacks pass through him.

Will (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 53

An advanced-track researcher and imbuer who questions whether Moxie belongs after the loss of her runes. He insists on testing the matter through a fight to exhaustion.

Godric

First appears in chapter 68

The senior host of the advanced track's underground welcome gathering. He receives the newcomers while Noah privately detects the alarming absence of a heartbeat.

Mayreena (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 71

A white-haired advanced-track professor whom Silvertide secretly identifies as the hostile puppet hidden at the gathering. He keeps the discovery quiet so the controlling enemy will not know the deception has failed.

Raphael (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 47

A rank-five Inquisitor seeking vengeance for two slain subordinates. Using regulated blood magic and a rosary made from demon bones, he establishes a trail toward the demon responsible.

Renewal

First appears in chapter 36

A deity linked to the red-horned cat avatar. She discovers that alterations to its runes have broken her practical control, prompting a new interest in the mortal responsible.

Decras (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 41

A deity associated with Garina and the severing of power. Decras visits Renewal and compensates her for an earlier shared loss.

Mascot (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 4

A red-horned catlike companion that appears without explanation in Noah's room. It calmly bonds with Contessa, who accepts responsibility for its care as part of her new arrangement with Noah.

Garina (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 27

A powerful searcher pursuing a person sought by a god. She has distributed valuable runes among major cities as bait and attends the noble auction to watch for a response.

Ferdinand (Supporting)

Also known as Ferd

First appears in chapter 27

Garina's traveling companion in the search for a powerful target. He suspects their quarry may be deliberately avoiding the notice of major families.

Spider (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 69

Vermil's masked mentor, presented as a powerful authority on the body-replacement threat. Spider tells Ulya that one clone is present at the advanced-track gathering and recommends leaving it hidden long enough to trace its controller.

Peter

First appears in chapter 69

An advanced-track professor assigned to collect Silvertide. Silvertide discovers that Peter has already been killed and that plant magic is controlling his body.
