Road to Mastery

By Valerios

Jack Rust, a biologist finishing his doctorate, is investigating a cave when a sudden system integration event traps him inside a monster-filled dungeon, one of over a thousand appearing on Earth as an alien authority claims dominion over the planet. Unarmed and inexperienced, Jack kills his first attacker with his bare hands and begins a grim campaign of survival, hunting increasingly dangerous creatures for the strength that lets him grow, while a strange, freezing pool in his cave offers painful but powerful physical enhancement. Confirming there is no way out of the dungeon except victory, he maps its three monster factions, takes up an unarmed-combat fighting class, and sets out to become strong enough to face whatever guards the only way out.
