The Emerald City of Oz

By L. Frank Baum

Deep under the mountains beyond the desert, the Nome King Roquat the Red is still furious at losing his Magic Belt to Dorothy, and he decides to have a tunnel dug beneath the sands so that an army can come up inside the Emerald City and take it back. In Kansas, meanwhile, Uncle Henry's farm is mortgaged, his health is poor and the bank is about to take the land. Dorothy asks Ozma whether she might live in Oz for good if her aunt and uncle can come too, and Ozma gladly brings all three to the Emerald City. While the Nome King's new general goes looking for allies among some of the fiercest peoples of the underground world, Dorothy takes Aunt Em and Uncle Henry on a tour of the odder corners of Oz in the company of the Wizard and other old friends. The sixth Oz book was published in 1910.
