Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.
Jim (Protagonist)
Also known as Grebthar the Destroyer
Appears from the start
A man who dies on Earth and enters an unfamiliar character-creation process with his memories intact. He rejects the name assigned to his new form and keeps Jim instead. His unique Unbound trait lets him disregard many normal advancement limits, drawing hostile attention from the beings overseeing his arrival.
Character-Creation Operators (Antagonist)
Appears from the start
Two unseen beings who oversee Jim's character creation. They discuss binding and altering him, and one destroys the statue for a god-tier class before he can select it. When the chamber breaks apart, both are pulled into the void with Jim.
Shart (Supporting)
Appears from the start
A once-powerful demon bound to Jim through their souls. After Jim defeats him on arrival, he is reduced to rank one and becomes the weaker partner in the bond. Regaining his former strength depends upon Jim granting access to a demon door.
Truman Masterbrook (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 8
An inactive resident listed by the abandoned settlement's governing interface. Jim finds him in the ruined church as an intact stone figure held by a demonic curse. Releasing him becomes one of Jim's restoration goals, but the curse requires far more mana than the new mayor can supply.
AvaSophia (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 10
A battered captive held in a goblin camp with her two children. Jim kills several guards and frees the family, leading them away while more goblins pursue the escape.
JoeClarance (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 10
AvaSophia's son, rescued with his mother and EveSophia from a goblin column. He takes an active part in their flight by helping Jim fight two pursuing guards while the family escapes the camp.
EveSophia (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 10
AvaSophia's daughter and one of the human prisoners held in a large goblin camp. Jim frees her together with AvaSophia and JoeClarance, then leads the family away from their captors.
Shadow Goblin (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 10
A level-six elite goblin whose stealth, perception, evasive skill, and paired swords let it bypass Jim's trap field during the captives' escape. It confronts Jim after the other pursuers are stopped.
Dark Overlord (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 12
A godling whom Shart says Jim was being prepared to confront. The Dark Overlord possesses a reality-altering attack and represents a threat far beyond the nearby goblin forces. At this point, Shart believes the godling has not yet discovered Jim's location.
King Har Charles (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 12
The ruler whose army forced AvaSophia's family from their home. Her account says his forces are burning villages during a campaign for coastal territory. He remains an offstage source of war and displacement, separate from the supernatural danger posed by the Dark Overlord.
Goblin Shaman (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 13
A level-five leader of the pursuing goblin riders and a spellcaster whose magic strikes Noobtown's barrier. The shaman advances toward Jim when the protection fails and Jim attempts to hold the attackers back through a bluff.
Weird Sisters (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 16
A pair of goblin spellcasters who share a staff and attack Jim with defensive barriers, fire, binding magic, mana drain, and pain. Jim escapes their ambush, and they remain undefeated champions whose survival strengthens the local goblin army.
Kappa (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 16
An intelligent warg formerly used as a goblin mount. Unlike most wargs, he can resist the call that draws them back under goblin control. After Jim communicates with him, Kappa accepts an arrangement to plow AvaSophia's fields and hunt in return for food and shelter.
Goblin Warg Master (Antagonist)
First appears in chapter 18
The unnamed commander expected to return to Western Gate Fortress with a mounted goblin force. After Jim frees the captives and defeats the garrison, the survivors prepare the fortress's damaged eastern defenses before the warg master arrives.
Fenris (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 19
A level-six warden freed with the prisoners inside Western Gate Fortress. He quickly joins the effort to secure its damaged defenses before a larger mounted force returns. His experience and willingness to support Jim's plan make him a central defender during the approaching counterattack.
Solita (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 19
A level-five hunter liberated from Western Gate Fortress. Skilled with bows and spears, she helps assess the mounted goblin force expected to return. Her ranged expertise gives the newly freed prisoners a capable specialist as they hurriedly prepare the fortress for attack.
Jarra (Supporting)
First appears in chapter 23
An alchemist initiate serving as the refugees' healer after the battle at Western Gate Fortress. She treats the gravely injured Jim and directs care for the other survivors. With their original journey no longer viable, she also speaks for the group in seeking a defensible place to settle.
