A highly capable lone hunter and poison alchemist travelling between Beast Lord dungeons. Jake relies on archery, close combat, heightened perception, and abilities connected to the Malefic Viper.

Great White Stag (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 3

The Beast Lord of the Lucenti Plains and the target of Jake's second dungeon. It commands the local herd and remains at the central pond with three unusually powerful white does.

William (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 5

A man shaped by memories of the harm he has caused, including killing his brother Hermann. He intends to turn the tutorial into the foundation of his power.

Jacob (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 5

An Augur of Hope who teaches and encourages the surviving camp. He completes a leadership quest, spreads Holy Church teachings, and gains knowledge connected to the Holy Pantheon.

Bertram (Supporting)

A named member of the surviving camp who provides combat theory for the training that Jacob offers to people without combat experience.

Holy Mother (Supporting)

The deity served by Jacob's Holy Church. She accepts the preserved souls of Jacob's followers under his existing agreement and stands behind the religious path now being prepared for him.

Ratman Swarm Controller (Minor)

A level-81 ratman that commands the reservoir mole-rat swarm through the Swarm Control Rod. Jake kills the controller and destroys the rod, eliminating the remaining swarm.

Nest Watcher (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 17

An armored, sword-wielding ratman that guards the final incubator in the Forgotten Sewers. It uses dark mana and a domain that suppresses the senses of Jake.

Malefic Viper (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 20

The divine patron and ally of Jake. He intervenes when another god attempts to claim the body of William, treats Jake as a friend, and provides information about Jacob, Bertram, and Casper.

White-haired god (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 20

After Jake kills William, this unidentified white-haired god removes the body. The Malefic Viper allows him to keep it only in exchange for a favor.

White-haired primordial (Supporting)

The god who claimed William's corpse now identifies himself as one of twelve primordials. He restores William to life and invites him to become a disciple.

Horde Leader (Antagonist)

The gold-tusked Beast Lord of the Valley of Tusks. It commands a horde of roughly one hundred Steel Tusk Boars.

Robert (Minor)

Jake and Caleb's father, remembered during Jake's dream of the family's last breakfast together before the system arrived. His present location and condition remain unknown.

Deborah (Minor)

Jake and Caleb's mother, remembered during the family's last visit before the system arrived. Jake had promised to return for her birthday, and her present fate remains unknown.

Caleb (Supporting)

Jake's younger brother. He lives near their parents and is married to Maya, who is expecting their first child when Jake last sees the family before entering the tutorial.

King of the Forest (Antagonist)

The tree-like final ruler of the tutorial and master of the four Beast Lords. Vastly stronger than Jake, the King offers him a safe departure or a fight to the death.

Umbra (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 42

A fire-and-archery god who sponsored the tutorial and offers Jake post-tutorial training and a blessing. Jake receives the invitation alongside one from the Malefic Viper.

Duskleaf (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 43

A godly alchemist and disciple of the Malefic Viper who begins instructing Jake in alchemy within the Viper's time-dilated realm.

Casper (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 49

A former coworker who returns to Earth among the undead. He carries a blessing respected and feared by the undead, but rejects leadership of their force.

Risen-human leader (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 49

The unnamed risen human who leads the undead forces returning to Earth. Casper refuses a leadership role, leaving her in command while his purpose remains separate.

Mike (Minor)

First appears in chapter 50

A survivor who blames Jake for Joanna's death and attacks him after the return to Earth. Jake crushes his hand during the confrontation, then leaves him a healing potion.

Savage Mole Lord (Minor)

First appears in chapter 51

A level-61 beast attempting to control the Pylon of Civilization in the forest. Jake kills it before claiming the pylon.

Maria (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 53

A powerful archer helping Jacob recruit and protect survivors outside a sealed city. She follows his group while appearing to pursue a separate purpose connected to a god.

Miranda (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 54

A family friend travelling with Hank, Mark, and Louise through the transformed forest. Her social skills help her negotiate temporary refuge with the masked protector of a secluded valley.

Hank (Supporting)

An axe fighter with a builder profession and the father of Mark and Louise. He loses an arm protecting his children from an Oakwood Tiger before Jake rescues the group and provides a potion that restores it.

Mark (Supporting)

Hank's nineteen-year-old son and the rescued group's healer. He survives the altered forest with his father, sister, and Miranda before the party receives shelter in Jake's valley.

Louise (Supporting)

Hank's twenty-two-year-old daughter and an evolved caster. She is one of four survivors rescued from an Oakwood Tiger and allowed to recover in Jake's valley.

Alpha Mantis Scyther (Minor)

First appears in chapter 58

An aggressive level-89 insectoid that appears to rule the underground biodome. It is a swift flier, but Jake defeats it after it fails to adjust its tactics.

Biodome fungal network (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 59

The unnamed D-grade fungal network that controls the underground biodome. It is the cavern's true ruler, and Jake cannot defeat it when it awakens.

Level-90 hawk (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 64

A level-90 wind-manipulating hawk that encounters Jake during his early flight practice. It corrects his wing movements and balance, accepts a stamina potion, and voluntarily returns to continue teaching him.
