The Village of Noobtown
By Ryan Rimmel
The second entry in the Noobtown series follows Jim as mayor of the small settlement Windfall Village, juggling everyday quests, resource shortages, and a barrier that protects the town from monsters above ground but not below. When Jim leads a party to reclaim the goblin-held Iron Pass Mine for its iron and crystals, a solo attempt to clear its remaining traps leaves him pinned and badly injured underground, until an unexpected creature offers rescue in exchange for becoming his bonded companion. With the mine reopened, Jim turns to building the village's economy and defenses, even as a sudden civil war between goblins and their rebelling wargs offers a fragile window to prepare before the valley's eventual victor turns its attention back to the village.
