Tower of Blight

By James T. Callum

The sixth Beastborne novel finds Hal, founder of the settlement Brightsong, setting out alone in search of a council said to be trapped in the Abyss, hoping to learn what caused an old calamity and what his Bright King title actually binds him to. The search turns up nothing, and while he rests inside a captured tower on the way home, a corrupting force secretly worms into its wards. Once released back at Brightsong, the tower grows into the massive, corrupting Tower of Blight, which the settlement's defenses can contain but not expel, so Hal organizes allied parties to clear it floor by floor before its taint overruns the settlement. Inside, the group faces a spreading affliction that weakens everyone but Hal, along with a floor built to separate and ambush them, forcing the alliance to shift from open fighting to careful scouting just to survive.
