The fourteenth Completionist Chronicles novel finds Joe recovering from a ritual that artificially repaired his damaged mana channels, a fix with a hard limit: seven more new skills or tier advances and it fails. With his powers restored but many high-rank abilities still broken, Joe searches for a way to repair them without tripping that limit, testing whether re-performing a skill's original actions can reconnect it. A trail of clues leads him into the Inverted Tower, a hidden organization of scholars and occultists, whose leader offers him membership in exchange for helping keep a nearby world boss from waking. After escaping an ambush by mind-controlled fighters sent by an unidentified enemy, Joe throws himself into designing new combat rituals meant to make him dangerous again despite his still-damaged spells, then heads out to test them against stronger monsters.
